China Glaze Let's Do It in 3D

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Hey y'all! This time I bring you my newest favourite, which is Holographic polish! As a die hard creme girl, I first resisted holos with all my heart. I'm not much of a bling-bling girl so I thought they were kind of tacky at first. Then I saw pictures of the legendary Chanel Holographic on the MUA Nail Board and got curious. One day I caved in and ordered some Nfu Oh holos. Oh boy, have I opened the flood gate, now I can't get enough of them! I have to admit Nfu Oh has the best holos out there, but their color options are somewhat limited (pastels only). China Glaze holos came in 2 different collections, with 2 very different finishes. Let's Do It in 3D was included in the Kaleidoscope collection, which has big chunks of sporadic holo glitters. Kaleidoscope came in 12 colors and this particular one is a dark grey, almost black base. Enough yapping, let's take a look at it...

Isn't it such a unique polish? I always get compliments whenever I wear holos. Apparently to mere mortals it looks like something from the future, at least that's what my co-workers tell me. It's a little secret that only us polishaholics know that you can get these "futuristic" nails for less than $4...

Claire's Neon Sky

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

To celebrate the gorgeous weather for the last couple of days, I bring you Claire's Neon Sky. It's the most beautiful true medium blue with a hint periwinkle to it. It's bright, but not neon bright. The formula is kinda streaky, I used 2-3 coats to even them out. Since it's supposed to be neon, it dries to a matte finish so I used Nubar's Diamont Top Coat to give it the most incredible shine. What you see in the picture is pretty accurate, isn't it gorgeous?

Nubar Cleopatra Collection

Monday, April 20, 2009

As a die hard purple fan, I was sooo excited to bring you this collection. As a note to myself, now that I know how long it would take to swatch an entire collection, I will have to split them up to a couple days... But enough whining, let's get on with it. This is my first time trying Nubar, I took advantage of their promo code from The Nailphile (which is my bible, btw). The collection consists of 8 different shades of purple, with different finishes. Now let's see all the goodies shall we?

Passionate Purple is a dark blurple with small fuchsia glitters. It's very close to OPI Ink, except Ink's glitters are much bigger and coarser.

Toga Purple is dark warm purple with grey-ish tone. It's a cousin of CND Rock Royalty, without the shimmer.

Nile Purple is warm grape purple with little shimmer. Surprisingly this is my favourite out of all them. My picture doesn't do justice of how pretty it is in real life.

Pyramyd Purple is true medium lavender creme and my 2nd favourite.

Sphinx Purple is more of a fuchsia or magenta instead of purple, nonetheless it's still very pretty. The shimmer is so strong, it looks like it's glowing.

Hieroglyphys Purple is another one that is the least purple of all. It's more of a berry and is creme finish. It's my least favourite since there's nothing special about it and it's got so many dupes out there.

Isis Purple is a light purple-y pink in creme finish. The formula is excellent, none of streaking associated with light colors.

Hieroglyphys Purple is medium grey purple creme. This is the lighter version of China Glaze Channelesque.

So what do you think of them? I definitely love them, even though there are a couple colors that I can do without. In summary, Nubar has definitely got the hang of Big 3 Free formula. They are all nicely pigmented, smooth, shiny and dry fairly quick. I used 2 coats for all of them, with Nubar's Foundation Base Coat and Diamont Top Coat.
Lemme just say that Diamont is sooooo great, it's replacing my long time love Poshe. I'll bring you the Diamont review, but that will have to be another day!

Misa Dirty Sexy $$$

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Hey y'all! I got you some Dirty Sexy Money from Misa this time. Just FYI, this is a page-turner for me since green is my least favourite color. I don't think I've owned any piece of clothing or accessories in green, further more some shades of green just make me plain nauseous. That's how much I hate it! Yet recently, a lot of brands are coming out with different versions of green and oddly enough, I fell in love to almost all of them! Well, Dirty Sexy $$$ works for me since this is a faded sea foam green, kinda resembling... dirty old money! The one thing I gotta rave for is the formula, it's just to die for! So pigmented yet so smooth, I could've gotten away with 1 coat. It's just the OCD side of me that made me apply 2 coats. I can't say that I love the formula of every Misas that I've got, but this one is just exceptional! Cheat note: I tweaked the pics so my fingers won't look bloodshot and to make the swatches accurate IRL... enjoy!

Nails Inc Chesham St

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

For my first post I bring you Nails Inc's Chesham St., which is a navy/purple/teal shimmer depending on the lighting. Nails Inc is one of my favourite brand since the application is ALWAYS flawless and the colors are really uniquely on trend. If they would only ship to the US, my collection would be largely based on them. Just simply gorgeous!
